THE INCREDIBLE INVENTION OF THE PLASTICINE
THE INCREDIBLE INVENTION OF THE PLASTICINE
- What he was trying to do: During World War II, the US government needed glue for airplanes, soldiers' boots and other similar things. Wright was trying to make a substitute made of silicone, as it was a fairly available material.
- How it was created: Wright added boric acid to the substance. The result was a sticky mess. Although I could not give it a practical use, the impracticability of the Boligoma is what makes it incredible.
- When: During a test with silicone oil in 1943
